Upcoming antiques appraisal at museum
Submitted by Amanda on August 16, 2008 - 12:27pm.
The Skokie Heritage Museum and IMODS will be hosting an antiques appraisal program called, “For What It’s Worth” on the second floor of the Skokie Heritage Museum. The program, a two-hour lecture, will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 2 – 4 pm.
Those interested can bring small to medium-sized antiques to be appraised. (It is possible to bring photographs of larger items, such as furniture, however the appraisal will not be as accurate). Besides learning about antiques and appraising, attendees ( age 18 and older) will learn what their objects are worth, as well as others’ objects.
Your antiques will be appraised by Karl Gates of Karl Gates Appraisals in Arlington Heights. Karl Gates has over 30 years of appraisal, lecturing and estate sale experience including working as an appraiser for the United States Treasury Department.
Please register early as space is limited. Please no firearms, stamps, or coins. This event will be held on the second floor of the Skokie Heritage Museum, so only bring items you can carry upstairs. This program is a lecture format so it is not first come, first served; the antiques will be appraised in groups by type.
The fee per item is a $5 Donation for the Kraig Foytec Memorial Fund. (Donations will also be accepted at the event). Residents can begin registering through the Park District on August 15, 2008. The registration code is 310155-02.
For more information, please call (847) 674-1500 ext. 3000.
