LET’S DO IT! LET'S CREATE A “SKOKIE KINDNESS DAY!”

Fellow Skokie residents and community members:

I’m asking for your support, your active participation, and your cooperative effort. You see I’m selfish—selfish for Skokie. I want, as you most assuredly do, to see “bigger and greater” things happen in Skokie, for Skokie.

For the “family of Skokie,” I want to see Skokie declare a “Skokie Kindness Day,” a specific date to celebrate, honor, and commemorate yearly the community’s cultural and ethnic diversity.

On “Skokie Kindness Day,” Skokians would intentionally seek out or look for occasions to manifest and practice “acts of kindness,” to the extent that “kindness-in-action” will be “up front,” in “sharp focus, and “uppermost” in their minds, and will carry over and work its way into their daily lives.

Greater fellowship, interconnectedness, social interactionand communication, solidarity, and unity among the community’s diverse ethnic groups would increase dramatically.

If Skokie becomes a magnet for “kindness,” that’s what Skokie will get. Skokie’s prestige, respect, and esteem could grow by “leaps and bounds,” reach its “highest high.”

A “spiked-up” Skokie “kindness” movement could become so contagious that it could spread to its surrounding neighbors, and have a “ripple effect” nationwide, and globally, as well.

As I stated at the top of this writing, I need your support. You can be instrumental and make a “significant” contribution to bring to fruition this noble cause. One person alone can’t create a “Skokie Kindness Day.” But one person multiplied can! Stand up and be counted! Let your voice be heard!

Phone (847) 933-8208 or Fax (847) 677-0194 the Human Services Division at the Village of Skokie, and cast your vote for the creation of a “Skokie Kindness Day,” right now!

Thank you,

Norman Kozak

Kindness day

I vote in favor of a Skokie Kindness day as proposed by Norman Kozak. I also think that people should share their stories of kindness they have observed in their lives and hold an awards dinner for the top 10 random acts of kindness or something to that effect. This could be done through a simple letter or email to skokienet. The idea should be fully supported by the schools also and somehow we should include them so the message gets to the kids also. Too much of what we hear in the media and elsewhere is negative and depressing. It is time to spread a little touch of kindness, even if it is mostly symbolic. Thank You, Dave Grier - Skokie Theatre
