Locally Owned Specs Business Celebrates 40 Years
Tibor Gross, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Barbara Creations, Inc., has been coming to work at the company for twenty years. "I'm here because I still love coming to work every day," he says. The company makes non-prescription eyeglasses at a facility located on Centrl Park Ave. The company has been able to thrive in these difficult economic times under Gross' leadership, which focuses on consumer satisfaction. This year alone, 18 million glasses have been distributed. Many of the 50 some employees have been working with the company for decades and feel part of a family. Gross never expected to be so involved with the company for so long. He marvels at the opportunities given to him in this country as the son of Holocaust survivors. The company will be moving shortly to Morton Grove in order to expand its warehouse space.
