Trade Your Old Metal Gas Can For A New Environmentally Friendly One
Submitted by skokienet on October 10, 2008 - 12:05pm.
Portable metal gas cans account for a significant amount of smog forming emissions. By replacing these existing, older style cans, with newer plastic environmentally friendly gas cans, harmful vapor emissions can be reduced by 75%.
On Sunday, October 26 from 2 to 4 p.m., bring your old metal gas cans to the Village of Skokie Open House at Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton Street, and trade them in for a new, environmentally friendly gas can free of charge.
The gas can exchange will take place at the Fire Department display at the Skokie Heritage Museum at Oakton Street and Floral Avenue.
While there, you are invited to join in fun and educational activities at the Village of Skokie's "Open House." Activities will include tours of Village Hall, a raffle drawing for a “Quality of Life” Basket containing gift certificates and items from local businesses (expected value of over $500 per basket), Skokie Crime Prevention Materials, Health Department screenings, Public Works and other equipment displays. Apple cider, doughnut holes and apples will be served.
