Remember to "Assist-A-Family" During the Upcoming Holiday Season

As the holidays draw near, it's a good time to remember to help families in need. The Human Services Department of the Village of Skokie asks community members to consider being part of this year's "Assist-A-Family" program.

The department asks for donations of checks, cash or gift certificates from area businesses for food, clothing, shoes, toys and specialty items. Unlike in past years when items were accepted, this year the department will only be distributing gift cards.

Human Services estimates that it needs about $125 in gift cards to assist each child. If you are interested in sharing your good fortune with a child or family in need, please contact Terri Williams at 847.933.8208. The deadline for making a donation is December 12, 2008.
