New Public Art Program for Skokie

The Village Board unanimously approved a new public arts program to promote the purchase of art for display in Skokie. It is hoped that this support will help in revitalizing the downtown area. Village Manager Al Rigoni's report on downtown redevelopment and the Independent Merchants of Downtown Skokie (IMODS) both endorse this project. Mayor Van Dusen will appoint a five-member committee to be known as the Public Arts Advisory Committee. The report states "more sculptures and art displays will be needed as the development of open space in downtown continues." Courtesy of the Skokie Review, April 26, 2007
