Skokie Village Board Approves Downtown Plan
Submitted by lee on September 14, 2007 - 7:44pm.
"2020 Plan for Sector A: Downtown" was officially approved after a presentation by Village Planner Steve Marciani. The boundaries of what traditionally is thought of as downtown Skokie will be expanded. The plan calls for connecting the different activity centers; binding the neighborhood together as a unique place. The opportunity is here to pursue these plans and capitalize on the addition of the Illinois Science + Technology Research Park and the upcoming Oakton Chicago Transit Authority station. Randy Miles, president of Independent Merchants of Downtown Skokie, reported that as many as 25,000 people attended the Backlot Bash held at the end of August.
