Calling all New Immigrants to Free Workshops

The Village of Skokie will offer a monthly Immigrant Information Series focusing on issues that are important to immigrant residents. All workshops will be held at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton Street from 7 to 8:30pm on the first Monday of each month from May 2008 to January 2009.

Day of the Child/Dia De Los Ninos Family

Sunday, April 27 at 2:00pm ion the Petty Auditorium Skokie's own Tricia Sebastian, children's music entertainer and recording artist, will perform a bilingual concert for families with children who love to sing and dance. Along with many traditional and original songs, Tricia will feature Spanish and English songs from her bilingual children's album, Canta Conmigo.

Bilingual Spanish-English Storytime @ Skokie Public Library

(ages 3 to 6) Tuesday, February 28 from 4:00 to 4:30pm in the Youth Services Program Room This lively storytime for preschoolers features a variety of English and Spanish stories, songs, fingerplays, action rhymes, and other activities aimed at building a love of language, books, and reading. Registration is not required.

ESL/Literacy Classes @ the Skokie Public Library

Oakton Community College offers free Learn to Read to Learn classes at its campus in Skokie and at several libraries in the area. Classes are offered several times a year. For more information or to register for a class call Oakton Community College at 847.635.1426.
